Although in 1995 it seemed like the end for the existence of this company, still 22 years later Alpine returns, and in 2017 it presents a new, better, stronger and faster A110. The old generations remember this car by fond memories and today the day brings a smile to their faces, while the new generations with the new A110 simply cannot remain indifferent.
There is not much to say about the body and appearance of this car except that you immediately notice that the A110 has retained its body shape, the same as the first generation, the two-door Coupe, a classic that always goes best.
On the front, there are four light groups, ie very nicely and simply designed headlights, and fog lights that are located in the middle and inside them, daytime running LED daytime running lights. All of this as a whole looks like the first generation with a modern design. On the back side, changes in appearance are already being monitored here, unlike the first generation. Slightly lowered rear end that emphasizes the Coupe look, finely designed LED stop lights. At the bottom, it makes diffusers, which immediately tells us that it is a sports car, and in the end, the sweetest detail is the exhaust. Centrally located strange-looking decorated with chrome.
From the side, the A110 clearly emphasizes that it is a sports coupe, a small car, low weight and excellent performance. Speaking of dimensions, it should be mentioned that the Alpine A110 is 4.1 m long, 1.8 m wide and 125 cm high. The most important thing for this car is its weight which is only 1,080 kg.
The most interesting thing about this car is its powertrain. It is centrally located and identical to the Megan RS, except that the A110 is a much lighter and more agile car and therefore has better performance. It is a 1.8 TCe that delivers 252 hp and 320 Nm. This Alpini engine offers a top speed electronically limited to 250 km / h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in just 4.5 seconds. However, if you do not have enough of this performance, 252 hp and acceleration from 4.5 seconds to 100 km / h, there is a solution that is hidden under the designation “S” or A110 S. By increasing the turbine pressure by 0.4 bar and with small engine modifications you get an additional 39 hp and 291 hp, respectively, and accelerates by 0.1 second.
By pressing the Start / Stop button, you release the stable, the characteristic sounds from the exhaust appear and everything is ready for fun, because this Frenchman has extremely good driving characteristics, determined grip on the road and ESP in three modes: Normal, Sport and Track. The moment you switch Alpine to “Track” mode, it allows you to drift at an angle of 15 degrees.
The Alpine A110 is a car that many have compared to the McLaren 570S, both in appearance and interior, but being compared to the McLaren is a great thing anyway. When you enter the car yourself, you actually realize how low and sporty it is. The A110 is a two-seater and doesn’t have too many stalls, but there’s really no need for it. The steering wheel is multifunctional and the real thing is behind it, the aluminum pedals for changing gears. The seats are signed by an already well-known company in the world of racing, Sabelt. They are profiled or, so to speak, “shells” of the alctan / leather combination, but although they are one of the more uncomfortable seats, these are even surprisingly comfortable, to the extent that you do not have back pain on a longer trip. In the interior, carbon was used for details, and for the final look, almost everything was sewn with blue thread.
On the central display, which is sensitive to touch and very interesting infotainment, it also brings the possibility of monitored telemetry, ie turbine pressure, tire pressure and similar things related to driving on the track. The only thing missing in this generation of cars is the connectivity for the Android or Apple system.
In the end, it is very interesting and it is a consumption, although with a car like this it should not even worry you, but if you are interested it was between 7.6 and 8.2 liters per 100km, depending on the ride and location.
