PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) — A woman from Miami led law enforcement on a chase after police say she stole an ambulance from a hospital.
The Port St. Lucie Police Department (PSLPD) said on Wednesday afternoon, 25-year-old Marquisa Allen was sitting on a bench outside the HCA Florida St. Lucie Hospital on SE Tiffany Ave. in her hospital gown. That’s when Allen noticed ambulance personnel were inside dropping off a patient, leaving the ambulance unattended.
Police say Allen, still in her hospital gown, stole the ambulance and fled the parking lot.
Officers say Allen was unaware of the GPS tracker in the ambulance. This allowed officers to provide her location to surrounding law enforcement. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) located the stolen ambulance stuck in traffic on the Turnpike.
