Sarajevo rapper and singer Franco Balkan has launched his third and long-awaited video for the song Dante, announcing his debut album.
The video was shot in BiH and was produced by Tempo Digital production company and directed by Željko Cvijetinović from MC Studio production company in Bijeljina. Although the song has been available on digital streaming and download platforms for some time now, the video only premiered on the YouTube channel today and also announces Franco’s first studio album, due out in late 2020.
The video and song “Dante” bring an interesting theme of the relationship between ordinary man and hellish woman, and analogies with Divine Comedy, alluding to Dante’s circles of hell, which served as an inspiration to this Sarajevo singer. The video contains many interesting, mystical, erotic and somewhat explicit scenes, along with an interesting movie script. The video is rated 17+, which means that it is not intended for younger audiences, and this was largely contributed by a young and attractive Serbian dancer and model, Ivana Stevanovic, who is accompanying mega-famous Balkan pop diva Jelena Karleusa at live performances.
Music and lyrics were done by Franco Balkan, while arrangement, mix and master were made by Almir Ajanovic and Damir Becic (Tempo Digital). As we learn, Franco Balkan will release at least 3 more videos and songs in the coming period, which he plans to compile into an album.
” I plan on releasing my first studio album for 2020, which will feature at least 6 songs and will see the light of day at the end of the year. Being a big fan of cinema, I usually write screenplays for all my videos, and I try to visualize them, as well as part of the script, to make them as interesting to the audience as possible. In this way, I try to ‘bring’ them outside the domestic frames, which are subject to many spots in this region. Today, music is watched more than listened to, and the audience wants to see a good visual and an interesting story in addition to a good song. As far as music and songs are concerned, I definitely plan to introduce a little extra foreign sound in production, which borders on Pop / Trap / Electro 80’s elements, with a dose of recognizable Balkan music, “said the rapper.
Although he has only recently appeared on the Balkan music scene, he has already garnered audience sympathy and was nominated as part of the regional Music Awards Ceremony (MAC 2020) in the “New Artists” category by most radio stations in the region, for the song ” Fight ”.
Franco Balkan (real name Goran Valka) is a pop-rap reggaeton singer (rapper), songwriter and producer. Born in Sarajevo on August 1, 1983, he began his music career in 2002 with the rap-rock band Corbansick, where he played keyboards, wrote lyrics and played samples. After the breakup of the band in 2006, he stopped playing music and took a break until 2018, when he returned to music, but this time professionally, and in a completely different release.
In January 2019, he signs his first record deal with Swedish-Bosnian label Tempo Digital. As a pseudonym at the beginning of his career, he takes the name Franco, however, to prevent the creation of additional confusion that has arisen on digital platforms and internet searches over the name ” Franco ” used on the world stage by several singers and bands, in summer 2019 to change its name to Franco Balkan.
When it comes to music, as part of a mix of hip-hop, rap and reggaeton, Franco Balkan combines his club, dancehall and electro pop-rap commercial elements with Balkan sound. He is also known for his melodic and infectious songs with explicit and sexually oriented lyrics. Despite the fact that he has only been in the music scene for a few months, his videos are already getting a lot of attention and are catching millions of views on YouTube.
