The Corolla has also been greeted with a hybrid powertrain, and this generation has an attractive design, perhaps the best so far in these 50 and a half years, so this time it plays on a map of emotions, not just reason.
The credit for its attractive and elegant appearance lies above all in the brand new platform that has put Toyota in the forefront as a priority with its good looks and elegant proportions. The same platform has been used for some time by the Toyota C-HR, a model that marked a turning point in Toyota design. This time, too, the Corolla is available in sedan, compact and station wagon, and as the previous generation in our country was the most popular in three-volume form, so this time we chose this version.
A sleek look with an aggressive front and sleek sedan shape is complemented by a practical interior. With increasing wheelbase, the Corolla has become noticeably more spacious inside. Rear seat passengers who have enough legroom will feel the most, and due to the good shape of the roof, there will be enough room for the heads of taller passengers. That it can be a great road and family sedan is confirmed by the very large trunk, which with 470 liters and a large opening meets all requirements.
The Corolla’s driving environment is in line with Toyota’s philosophy, so it looks like there should have been no experimentation. The sleek and simple cockpit is ergonomically well-rounded, with a large infotainment screen that we would have preferred a few inches lower in the center console. This way you always get the feeling that it is a little distracting to look forward. Progress has been made in the graphics and appearance of instruments, but also in infotainment applications. The instruments take some time to get used to the amount of information and their layout, while the central infotainment screen is viewed, but the fact is that other brands make the eyes more comfortable “interface”.
The hybrid Corolla comes with the previously known 1.8-liter petrol engine and 72hp electric synchronous engine. With the batteries being very cleverly tucked under the rear seats this time around, the space for passengers and luggage has not paid off in the least, and the new generation system itself works even better and more neatly. With the CVT automatic transmission, the Corolla-powered car is one of those cars where you enjoy quiet and leisurely driving.
